Chrome side covers on 2nd gen

I’m looking into getting some side covers for my 01 250 rebel. I don’t have a cover on my battery and my air box cover is busted up. I wanna get the older chrome metal covers. I hear that don’t fit without nodding. I have searched and searched for what needs to be done. I can’t find any more info on the subject besides it will need to be modded. Can anyone help me with a write up on this matter please and thank you.

The air cleaner cover fits the 96+ air box but you need to weld anew tab for the bolt as they are in different spots between the two generations.

The battery box requires a bit more fabrication...while some of the mounting holes line up, the bottom interferes with the frame so more bracket/welding is required on this side.

"Ride Safe, Chop Safer" Motorcycles are not unsafe. However; they are extremely unforgiving of inattention, incompetence, ignorance, and stupidity.
Dismantling, sawzalling, and rattle canning does not make a bobber.
Those are STEPS toward customizing, not customizing unto itself.

Thanks I’ll look up the write up. Since I wrote this I was told I can get the air box cover to fit. All I would need is the black cover that screws to the airbox and the chrome cover will snap on no problem

Man that deff seems like a lot of work on battery side. I have no clue how to make it work since I don’t have cutting or welding tools in my apt.
I can get some side covers cheap and really wanted it to work
