So I accidentally hit 50 mph in second gear today

...yup, with stock gearing. Was getting onto a busy highway where you need to hit 60 mph quickly. I could have sworn I was in third so I was going to wind it up to 50...once I hit 40 it took a while to climb(Running out of the powerband) but it did get to 50 about as quick as third would have. Afterwards I took third all the way to 62, thinking it was 4th. By the time I hit 4th I was at 65 and thought the engine was running faster than usual...sure enough I had another gear. So, either I found the elusive 6th gear or I cranked 2nd and 3rd gear well over the indicated redline marks.

No harm done and the bike still runs like clockwork as always. Think it could do 55 in 2nd? I'm not going to try and find out. I usually shift it at 30, lol.

I guess this is where having a tach would come in handy!

Or take the hearing protectors out, or the hearing aids in. That engine had to be screaming for relief.

Keepin' all the left over parts. Gonna use 'em to build another bike!

That 250cc Honda is one tough dog. I'm just glad it did not cause you to have an accident.

I tired to accelerate from a stop in third gear after losing track of my clicks last weekend. It won't happen again. At least no one saw me and did not drop the bike.
