ElDudo’s 1987 Bobber Build

I figured I should document the bobber build for posterity. This bike is a retired MSF trainer, so it’s seen better days

After cleaning out the gas tank, installing a new petcock, ChemDipping the carb and changing the park plugs and air filter. I had the proof of life I needed to continue with the build.

Yesterday the bob began in earnest.

Front and rear fenders, and the chain guard were removed.

BCB kit to be installed in the future.

Still trying to figure out whether I want to run fenders or not and what tires sizes to go with.

This morning my son “helped” me take the front turn signals off the bike.

I’m going to replace these with smaller units further down on the forks.

Is anything I’m taking off worth the hassle of trying to sell?

Pretty much everything you've mentioned has been needed by members at one time or another, especially turn signals (disconnect wires, don't cut) and license plate assembly.

You could list them in the For Sale section of the forum and see what the response is. Folks looking to keep the stock fender for when they sell the bike, but want a bobbed rear fender look may want that too.

Keepin' all the left over parts. Gonna use 'em to build another bike!

Had some help from my little garage buddy making progress on the bobber build the last couple of days

Got some fresh tires, went with Dunlop D404s 100/90-18 in front, 140/90-15 in back.

Also got the BCB axle mount license plate/brake/tail combo installed.

(Anybody know how to flip pics?)

Looks Great! Hopefully I have as much luck getting my bike running and then I hope to do the same bobber mods as you. What front turn signals/ rear taillights did you buy? and Where?

I haven't bough them yet, But I am probably going to go with either the Blue Collar Bobbers ones (1st pic), or the set that I bought for my Triumph from British Customs (2nd Pic)

I'm new here. I saw ur pics and saw where you asked if anyone knew how to flip them. I flipped them for you. Now if they stay flipped, we're in business.
