Bought a New-to-me Rebel 250 today

Got a 2007 Rebel with 6002 miles today....The tires were just about shot from dry rot and the seller gave me a discount of hundreds for their replacement..it is red and stock aside from a nice, tall windshield and a top box/trunk. I have it titled and insured and took a short "maiden" ride (too hot to go very far.).
Because the Honda Shadow 750 that I recently bought is proving to a chore to ride due to its weight and my physical strength limits. The Rebel seems just right...

I am looking forward to mostly short rides, but for me they are very enjoyable.

Thnak you for kind replies..Ordered tires and tubes today....They'll be installed by next week Wed or so.
This bike is so easy to "manhandle" and for this elder citizen, that is such a pleasure.

Best to all,

Bob in North Carolina

Not riding until new tires/tubes arrive...Never saw dry rot this bad or extensive. Might "do" neighborhood around the block a time or two but not out on the highway. There is an issue with the choke....any movement at all from "off" position of the choke lever causes an immediate stall. However, good news is it starts right up with no choke at all...I'll look into it and search some threads.

Smart to replace those tires asap. It’s just not worth the risk. Cash outlay, yes, but when you think about the work tires do and how long they last, they really are a good investment.

What brand/model did you go with?

I had a couple of Rebels that only needed choke in cold weather. Member mojorisn said the same about his Rebel.
