I have nothing against the bike, it may be great, but it is not a Rebel, and is so different from a Rebel, that it will create logistical problems for this and other Rebel sites from a purely practical matter. There will be some who embrace it and others who don't. Those who do need their own forum where folks can form a community of people who know the bike and how to work on it.
Maybe all those here will eventually learn about this new bike as more and more try it, but that knowledge will not be here to begin with. Maybe it would not be anywhere, but it would seem to be more likely that the expertise to work on the not-Rebel is on the CB sites, not here. I personally have no desire to learn about it, and will not be able to help newbies or others coming here looking for help. Hopefully others will be able to help, or set up a section for it. It may bring more visitors to the site, but it will add another complication in helping those visitors, and detract from the community already here.
We deal with the new generation/old generation, and 250/450 issues, so I guess we will figure out how to deal with this also. I just wish that Honda had continued to make the Rebel with some upgrades. Since they did not do that, I wish they had given the new not-Rebel a different name more appropriate to its heritage and platform to distinguish it correctly and eliminate the confusion that will follow.
