Turn signal relay replacement

Ok. So I have a copy of the wiring diagram and can trace where the wires should run from the turn signals. I have a copy of the wiring schematic that shows the relay, #16 that plugs into #17. I have looked at the shop manual but have not found a copy or picture of where the relay is. I am assuming it is somewhere in the main electrical box on the right side of the bike.
Can one of you talk me through replacing the relay. I believe that all I have to do is find the old one, remove it and insert the new one, but where is the dang thing. I am starting to wonder if they did not remove it when the changes out the stock signals?

You know that cover that fell off? Well, you are in the area.
IIRC, it is somewhat hidden behind the battery box.

Ok, so my riding escorted is grounded with an ear infection so I spend the weekend takeing things apart and putting them back together. I think to get to the relay on this bike I am going to have to take the driver's seat off. I pulled the electrical box cover, the battery box cover and the air filter box covers. I could see what looked like the relay between those, behind the fuse holder and some other electrical things I have not been able to identify on the wiring diagram. one was round and to the left of the fuses.

I also found a deposit between two black tubs on the left side below the gas line that was thick, black and greasy. Not oil, at least not new oil as that is a clear amber in color. The air filter was clean and dry foam. Thoughts?

Here's what my manual says.
1. remove both side covers and seat
2. remove electrical panel (triangular panel next to battery cover)
3. remove turn signal relay from behind the fuse panel. It should be accessible and visible after you move the fuse panel.

Thanks Chef that is helpful and I recognize the different parts in the layout. I guess I need to know How to take the fuse panel and seat off. I think I have to remove the passenger seat to get ant the rear bolt of the main seat, but where is the find bolt for the main seat. Also where should I look to find
the bolts or what ever to get the fuse box off? Is it 23 and 19 in the drawing?
