3-4 carb questions

#1 putting carb on after cleaning... I have 2 long hoses left... I believe one is the gas tank venting line.. no clip... but I still have one long line coming from maybe below the air box area with a clip.. where does that go.. it has a clip on end so I know it goes somewhere...

#2 The connection with the plastic nut what size is that and do you just hand tighten that till it is flat on the surface? Do not want to strip it.. The one with a spring inside left side of carb,

#3 Does anyone have that link handy for the inline fuel filter at amazon.. and what size is the fuel line and what length should I buy/// do not want to use the original line.. no reason...

If possible answers within a day would be nice.. or I usually have it figured out if I do not get an answer for a week... thank you...

Oh and last one if I just want to rinse out tank while off is gas fine... or a little dishwashing liquid with water?

my tank vent hose had no clip, guessing other long clipped hose is right top of carb vent hose..

i finger tighten the choke/enricher plastic nut
5/16" fuel line with huge ugly Filter I have no style..

If you flush out tank with garden hose stick it in oven at 100 or have a pint/quart of Denatured Alcohol handy to dry out the tank ..
I have found using small pieces of granite DG gravel because of sharp edges makes a good internal tank scrubber.. others use screws or square cut nuts.

Copy and pasted what you said as I tried to quote and it did not copy... added my thoughts in bold...

So I am thinking the bottom is vented down in the middle for the gas tank.. and that is what I thought that the hose going up to the tank had no clip... but it has a curved cut end....so now I am thinking the opposite,,, that maybe the clipped end goes to the tank and the curved cut end us venting for something else? Or stick with the first thought LOL.. not out there now...

Odd how so many said they have done a carb but never mention this thank you a was going to try to wrench it a little more glad I stopped!

I will do a search here later... I remember seeing an amazon link for a $5 fuel line filter.. thanks on the 5/16th size... I should not need more than a foot... will have to see how sold...

Going to try to get a light in the tank tomorrow before I put it on... is that the white little rocks you see on construction sites? and do you rise out with dish soap when done.. ? Bot sure I have any rust yet...

California doesn't smog motorcycles but from what I'm hearing they will be sometime down the road soon.

didn't say california smogged motorcycles...

some california Rebels were equipped with smog reducing plumbing.. Guess I could have been more precise "evaporative emission control" but smog was a shorter word
image is out of my OEM service manual.. Note the charcoal canister and pvc valve...
@greggsrebel note all lines vent to atmosphere even with cali smog equipment..

if you don't have a rust problem don't introduce water into the tank... nor will you need to scrub the inside..

ok so no water in tank... or scrubbing if no rust will check that...

where does hose/line #2 connect that may be the one with the clip leaving the other one for the gas tank... when I try to click on diagram I get a black screen. I see on the one end it is open.. seeing it is a long line I have left guessing it is #2.
