Leaking caliper bleeder

Had my caliper shoes changed late last fall and iv taken notice this past week of brake fluid seeping out of the caliper bleeder. Brought it to the mechanic late this afternoon he tightened the bleeder but it is still bleeding out a bit of brake fluid I notice it when i remove the rubber bleeder dust cover. The bike has 3,800 miles on it iv just ordered a new bleeder but the question is what can cause the bleeder to weep with this amount of mileage ? The mechanic says that if replacing the bleeder does not remedy the issue then its a new caliper and that is well over $200.00 he had told me.

What year is your bike, and has it sat outside a lot? (Putting your bike info in your signature is helpful - see my signature) It's possible some contaminant, such as a deteriorating hose is causing the problem. Or the part may be defective.

I'd get a new bleeder screw before investing in a whole caliper, and if a caliper is needed, I'd get a used one on ebay.

Guba is right!

I'm keepin' all the left over parts. I'm gonna use 'em to build another bike!

Did the mechanic, remove the bleeder and inspect it and the caliper, or clean it, or flush the system and replace the fluid, or did he just tighten it.

One of those may cure or at least reveal the problem.
