Talking Rode up to Madrid New Mexico today...

Had a glorious ride today. Took my 250 Rebel East on old Hwy. 66 to Tijeras, caught NM 14 North to Madrid. Weather could not have been better, bike was running like a dream. The parking lot at the Mine Shaft Tavern was a miniature bike rally, had to search for a place to park. Got a seat at the bar and ordered up a cheese burger and fries. Listened to some good live music. Didn't get the name of the band, was just 2 guys. One was an old cowboy who made a tub base talk, and a one-eyed gent with an acoustic guitar. Played blues and some bluegrassy stuff. Only downer was that riding back there was a one bike wreck on the hill just South of town. EMS was on scene, I stopped just long enough to see if they could use an off duty Paramedic for anything. They had the guy in a C-collar and were getting him on a back board. Didn't seem to be life-threatening injuries. Pranged his Harley pretty bad though. Got back to Albuquerque and one of my friends wanted to go for a ride. We traded bikes for a quick spin around the block. She has a Suzuki Boulevard C50 and I wanted to give it a try. Nice machine. Got back on our own bikes and picked up her girlfriend and buzzed back East on old 66 and then a few miles down South 14. Finished up at the Albuquerque Owl Cafe for another burger.

My face is sun and wind burned but I am one happy rider.

Sounds like a great ride. Gonna have to do it soon on my Wing. The Rebel is a year or so away from riding.

Went back up there last week with two friends who had never been there, The same band was playing, they're called the "Rue-Barbs". Had the buffalo burger this time. Dang they're good!
