Some of the die-hard State's Rights types would consider Texas the "Republic of Texas" and therefore under siege by the Federal government, haha.

Some still do. There was a high profile effort to gain recognition about fifteen years ago, but the organizers were thrown in prison after some financial dealings involving issuing bonds, printing currency, and a few other things that got the attention of the U.S. federal government. They were mostly ignored until they did things that could damage the credibility of the dollar.

I think El Paso is considered South West. If you ever get up to the Roswell area give me a shout.

@aljmiller I might be moving to austin for the summer to intern at my sisters bar [hooah for free bartender training!] so I would be able to ride then!

@fridg craigslist says you are in north texas, but tyler and longview is east. if you divide the state into four pieces you are in northeast.

Waterman I live in lubbock, LV lives in NM, and she is closer to you than I am, this state is HUGE! I dont think you could get any more west than you are.

Waterman I started riding with a friend of mine that had a bike. In fact she made me get a bike so she would have someone to ride with j/k then I found out that Roswell had an all city riders meeting and started attending that and joining on the open group rides. Maybe there is something similar in your area. There are a lot of riders out there and it does not take much to strike up a conversation with another rider.

Dallas area riders?

Hey Fridge!
I am in Sanger (which is north of Denton, which is north of Dallas)...and I would love to join you guys on a ride, but I just got mine and am trying to get it cleaned out and ready to ride. It's been sitting for several years and needs carb cleaning and a few other things which are minor.
I also need a rear license plate light cover, know anyone around here in the north Texas area that may have one? I am considering making one, I have a garage full of 'crotch rocket' parts that my Son bought off of a guy that had a shop, so I bet I can find something that would work that I could modify.
We need to get a Rebel Riders club started around here....only Rebel Riders know what we have to put up with and work with....keep in touch!

Howdy, CL. I don't have a line on the license plate light cover, but I'm sure there are plenty on Ebay, or Jack would have one. It's going to be a couple weeks before I'll be riding, but I'm always up for a weekend ride.
