I will go where ever you all want. After those roads in NC I have got to say any of the picks work for me. We spent about 9-10 hours on the bikes only getting off for gas, potty, and lunch to ride to Deal's Gap from our cabin. I never go past third gear on those roads either. I am up to any or all of those places! I have been to all of those places by car and all are nice. I bought a rain suit in Maggie Valley so if it rains ok. Now I have to get busy with this trip.

Gubba what ferry are you talking about? If you do the trip to Manatou Island that is an all day trip. It takes 3 hours just to get to that island and no bikes allowed. I loved it but no riding there. The Tunnel 0f trees starts at Harbour Springs, and ends at Cross Village. The bridge is about 17 mile futher. Buickguy we can go a different week for you. My bad news is I am now unemployed so I am not locked into a week, I just gotta find the money now. Isn't that the way it goes? You have the money and no time or the time and no money? I lost my job on the day we left to go to NC on vacation.

@Buickguy: I think you work for the same hardass that my friend does. That's why it's so hard for me to pin him down for this trip.

@wby: First, sorry to hear that this crappy economy has claimed yet another victim. When will it end? Second, as much as I would like Buickguy to come along, I am now locked in to the first weekend in August. I have the vacay time approved and have gotten my friend about 70% committed to coming along. If I move the date on him now, he probably won't come. Also, the Craig's List ad lists that weekend. It hasn't been published for long, but I don't think we should switch up the dates or we risk creating confusion.

Sorry to hear about your job loss. And on the first day of vacation, that had to suck!

After some more research on the island, I kinda picked up on the fact that no bikes are allowed. Island population is one ranger. It has my curiosity, but not enough for me to whine if I don't see it.

Sounds like everyone wants the Tunnel. That's okay by me!!!!

I just got back from Wisconsin, I took US 2 through the UP and it was nice the closer I got the the bridge.

Buickguy we can plan another trip north on a different date and stay in hotels if you want.

Next time I'll do my best! You all should enjoy the TC/Interlochen area!
Camping is cool with me anyway.

I'm sure you enjoyed that UP trip.

Since I am now jobless. I am thinking about taking my son with me to the Rally then heading up after to Marquette where my best friend lives. I have not had the time to do this the last couple of years so I figure I may not have the money but hey I have the time! I have an open invitation to a free bed there when ever I want so why not. I may then head to Copper Harbor and do Brockway Mountain. I was afraid to do that one but after the Blueridge Parkway that will be a piece of cake! I have wanted to cruise the UP since I got my bike so why not. I may as well enjoy the ride and get serious about job hunting after a few weeks but enjoy the time while I can!
