Smile We are on

GREAT.. Daughter said she would care for "Mom" for the three days for me, so my brother and I will be there. He will be riding his Suzuki GN250 which I told him would be ok as far as the group is concerned.
Since I live on the west side of Indiana, looks to me like the best way up is just to get on US 31 and follow the yellow lines. Looks like somewhere around 260 miles. I think we will take "old" US 31 rather than the new interstate version. More comfortable and a lot more to see.
Plan on leaving here Friday and will arrive sometime late that afternoon.
See U all there.

Gil

No, no, NO! We don't need our Rebel party infested with Suzuki trash!

Totally kidding. If it has two wheels and a motor, it's welcome, on that we all agree. My buddy rides a 1982 Honda Nighthawk 650. Glad you and your brother can make it.

Woah, sound awesome guys. Just read through the thread. I live in Chicago now but grew up in Standish, MI, Went to NMU and lived in Marquette for 8 years total during and after college. I wouldn't be able to make a trip early Aug. But I'm planning a trip to Kalamazoo in early September to visit a friend, if anyone wanted to get together. He rides too (if he has his bike working now).

M19 Devils Elbow

So michigan riders are you ready for the Tunnel of Trees M119? I was looking at a site heres the site Michigan M-22 Scenic Drive and it says the curve has a strange history? I saw the sign when we drove down the road, but didn't get why it was called the Devil's Elbow. I will say the road was not as bad as the Dragon. But it is more senic then the Dragon. The Dragon you really do not dare look around to much on it anyway lol. Did you know that there also is no center line on the road either! I just found this link,http://www.unsolvedhomicide.com/ maybe the strange goings on are this 40 year old unsolved muder? I also red something about hearing indain drums when someone perished in Lake Mi. It's kind of interesting anyway.

Looking forward to it; although time is running out for me. I still haven't had the time to rebuild my forks, or do an oil change and chain maintenance. Then there is buying a tent.......I will make the time this next week.

I have been sidelined with pneumonia for a while and have been in bed or watching TV instead of checking in on this forum. My buddy and I are very much looking forward to this trip. Getting the trailer ready has been a pain (seller didn't have it registered so I had to get it weighed to get a plate for it, didn't realize the plate is car sized not mc sized and now have to find a way to rig a mount, left driver's license at SOS office, etc.) but it's just about ready now. We are planning to bring a propane grill with us and everyone will be welcome to use it.

I also am preloading potential routes into my GPS for our trips. We don't have to use those routes but, if we do, I'll be happy to lead. Has anyone counted how many have confirmed?

Sorry to hear of pneumonia twich. Hope your all healed by the time of the rally. I'd hate to hear of you coughin' up a lung becouse you weren't healed all the way!

I have a GPS too. I have a few places programmed in, but whether we end up there is doubtful (microbrews). I've been doing a search on local eating hot spots, yeah I'm a foodie!

I haven't done a head count.

Well, I saw the doc today and he said I won't be healed "all the way" by then--it takes about a month. But I'll be in very good shape by then (cleared to go back to work next Monday) and right now I'm looking for a Chilton manual for a 1971 Human Anglo Saxon so if that lung does come out, I'll know how to put it back in!

Looking for great places to eat? If we end up on the Old Mission Peninsula, I recommend the Old Mission Tavern. The first time I went there in the 1970's, it was a tiny ice cream stand. Now, it has an art gallery and serves fine cuisine. The proprietor, Verna, was a friend of my late grandmother.
