My daughter just passed her MFS class and passed. A lady in her class has a Rebel and I have her name and number, and I guess her friend has one. Another person my husband works with has one. If you all want to pick a date, we could run an add on craigslist, lets do it! I also know there is a camping resort for camping in Inerlochen (near Traverse City) for motorcyclist. They have a little bike museum, repair shop with stuff for sale. I have never stayed there but the owners seem to be really accomadating. Then we could all do the Tunnel of trees Sleeping Bear dunes or what ever?

Anything more than a day ride I am not able to do until after July 29th. Then I am open during the week or on weekends. I would be interested in any of the trips discussed above. Copper Harbor, Traverse, Petosky what ever... I have been in MI for many years but have never taken anytime to look around.

Tunnel of trees run sounds very cool. I have vacay time saved up, so I'm good there. Any time in July or August would work for me.

I don't have a trailer, so a trip up North would be my longest ride by far! Maybe some of us from further south could start a pack and pick up new riders along the way. Don't know about camping, though...not a lot of places to carry gear on a Rebel. Maybe I could UPS my tent, sleeping bag and air mattress ahead of time, I guess.

Twitch, if you aren't carrying a passenger and have a sissy bar and/or luggage rack, there are lots of places to carry camping gear. Think Fridgitator has pics of his bike loaded with camping gear. Just be sure to strap everything down nice and snug.

There is also a decent mom and pop motel in a good spot called the Flamingo Motel. This one is off the highway on 37? Ionia peple could take 66 all the way there. at $49 $59 a night. I just asked for a quote and should get an answer soon? Here's that link http://www.mackinaw-city-motel.com/contact.php It has a pool, campfire etc. It is also about 16 miles either way from the tunnel of trees and as far to Mighty Mac. If we all booked our own rooms ahead this is a good spot. I was actully planning on staying there the next time I went up there. Heres a link to the other one http://www.leveringmotel.com/ We could do the bridge and the tunnel of trees. One bit of advise about the bridge do not drive on the grates it's worse on the grates! Maybe we should run a few dates and places to hold it on a poll and see what works out best for most?

I do have both of those things. I suppose I could do that, but I'd rather not. Actually working on solving the trailer issue right now.

Flamingo Motel update

For those interested in a Michigan Rally I just received this email from the Flamingo Motel. I did not confirm anything with them but they were promp with their reply. I am still waiting to hear from the Levering Motel for pricing. I have not checked Cycle Moore yet, but believe they do not take reservations. Once when I checked with them they said that they have loads of room so it was not necesary. If someone needs something to sleep in and wants to camp I may be able to help out. If I did that I would have to haul my camper, and my covered bike trailer. That causes me the problem of how to get my camper up there without making two trips. I live maybe 2 hours away and don't really want to waste the gas. I would have to pull the popup up there then return to get the bike trailer. I would other wise just pull the bikes up, then sleep in the bike trailer with a blow up bed. So if I had to I might be able to lend someone the bike trailer to sleep in but it could be done? Let me know if there is a need. I might be able to work something out? I may be able to find a tent or 2 to borrow, and put them in my Jeep for a couple of people, if you don't mind tents. It's up to you all so vote in the poll if you are all serious. I will post another poll for dates. If there is no responses I will scratch the whole idea. "Yes we have availability. We can even do a special group booking
price. Would you need rooms with one bed and rooms with two beds? If
so how many of each?
Please email or call: 1-866-436-8751 with further questions or when
your ready to book it.

Thanks for your inquiry,
Flamingo Motel"

I just sent this to all the replies I got from craigslist.

"Did you check out hondarebelforum.com for the information? Are you planning on going to the rally or not? I would like a tentative count of how many are actually going to show up. Are you from Michigan or else where? What approximate area are you from? I am from Newaygo County Muskegon area. If you prefer not to camp I am sure there are mom & pop motels there where your bike would be safe. What kind of bike, color and year is yours? I have a 1986 black Rebel 450. I have had a few spams emailed to me so I am emailing all who have contacted me. If I do not receive back a reply I will consider you as a spamer.
Heres a possible schedule and events calendar we are open to everyone's opinion.

Friday, August 6 (Some of you voiced possibly arriving on Thursday the August 5) arrival ASP Evening campfire, meet & greet, plan Saturday morning ride (route, and where to meet for breakfast as well as the time to meet and time for the ride) hot-dog roast BYOB or whatever you prefer for drinks, & food. If some of you arrive on Thursday night or early enough on Friday there may be enough time to drive towards the Sleeping Bear Dunes, or up the Traverse Bay area where the wineries are?

Saturday, August 7 meet for breakfast your on your own as far as paying. We will ride to the Tunnel of Trees Road which starts in Harbor Springs and ends in Cross Village Mi. (the road is about 20-23 miles long. It is beautiful, has lots of curves, no center line. The road goes completely around Lake Mi. and is very curvy! No speed demons on this road there is no passing!) There is a really neat Polish Restaurant called the Legs in with a bunch of stove pipes on the roof. My suggestion is that we stop there for our lunch. We can meet in their parking area, then go in to eat. Some of us prefer to go on to the Mackinaw Bridge which is 17 more miles from Cross Village. My advise for those crossing the bridge is to stay on the right hand side and not drive on the grates. (unless they are doing road work and you don't have a choice). They also charge toll on the UP side.

Sunday, possible short ride towards the Sleeping Bear Dunes, or up to the Traverse Bay area where the wineries are? Then departure to go home.

Thanks for your interest and hope you will join us at Cycle Moore Motorcycle Campground August 6 7 & 8
Sincerely,
wannabeyooper"

Some were spamers so I am not sure if any of these parties will even come. I figure they will email me back if they are really going to show up. One party emailed that they had 2 450's for sale in Indiana lol. I replied I have a 450 also! Are you attending maybe someone will buy your bikes? The person said no.
