Wheeling, WV Cabela's Bike Show

We hit a local Cabela's for the Annual Car, Truck and Bike Show on Labor Day....

We were originally only going to take my Dakota R/T for the show to pass a lazy labor day and have a little Fun, but I decided to toss my Rebel in the Back of the Dakota and take it too.....

that was a good move as I won the "Neatest Honda" Award in the Bike class of the show..

They only had 11 Bikes mostly High End HARLEY'S, and a few GOLD WINGS!

And a really nice '52 Indian, the owner rebuilt from a basket case!

Congrats!!!!!!!!!!! Definately a sharp looking Reb.

Hey, do me a favor. If your local to that area, I lost my digital camera in the Ohio river at Moundsville last sunday. Think you could fish it out? DOH!... stupid river.

Congratulations on winning!!! I also have an 08' Silver Rebel and totally agree with the judges, the Rebels are the "Neatest" Hondas...

Attention-getter

Hi, Silver Rebel,

Thanks for proudly showing off your bike. And trucking it around!
I don't know why it is that Rebels aren't ridden with some pride around here.
Seems like this "starter bike" myth prevents a lot of fun from being had.

I'm a new street rider, 49 years old, and I'm not moving up, as people say.
And thanks for including WV as the NorthEast!
Someday, maybe Virginia will think of itself as the North, too.

There, if I haven't offended you, a question....do you think it's ok to to lay a bike down in a truck bed, empty of gas? I might start transporting mine around if I could throw a tarp over it like this.

Thanks for your posts.

DIY Highway Bars?

I completely forgot why I registered to post something here. It was to ask if anyone else thought there was any near-total lack of options for Rebel highway bars/ crash bars?
As far As i see online, the only crash bars look like my mother's walker strapped to the front.
Especially if the primary purpose of the "crash bars" is to put foot pegs on, and not really to protect the engine, I'd think that a poorly-welded, non-chromed, bar(s) would be an easy thing to manufacture. And to[I]sell[I].
I'm in Virginia. Do you know anybody who'd make a few sets for $40 each?
$60 each?
Just a thought.
Thanks

Jack's has these highway bars http://www.rebelcatalog.com/html/25096_11.html Considering they are good looking, well chromed, and already have the pegs attached, think the price is reasonable.

When it comes to engine guards, the choices I'm aware of are are only two. The big (really too big IMO), American made ones and the smaller, often poorly made ones from Hong Kong. I ordered the Hong Kong ones for around $60-70 and they were rusting when they got here and the welds and chrome were poor quality. Was able to eventually get my $ back, but there was a communication problem. So I got the big ones, and scraped both sides during my basic MSF course. Wouldn't want to do that at any significant speed on the road. Might cause a fall.

You do have the option of having a local welder fab something up, but not sure what it would cost you.
