MSF Course
I took the MSF beginner course this weekend in Roanoke Va it was around 95 degrees on the pavement but we all made the grade. I can recommend it to all new riders like myself.

Congrats! I passed earlier this year in April and what I learned there still comes to mind while I'm out riding. It's definitely a good thing to do.

Congratulations! My wife and I actually passed you guys while riding through town on Sunday and had a conversation about stopping in to see if an instructors we know was teaching. Ended up continuing on our way. Sorry it was so warm, but at least it was dry. It was raining the day I tested in 2005 and I had a terrible time learning to properly modulate the rear brake on the GZ250.

Congrats, I just took it also, and thought it was GREAT and that everyone should take it.

Congratulations!
If the range is not far from your place, I would recommend going on your own when not in use. You can practice much better when nobody is watching you. It will keep you sharp.

I'll be practicing those moves for a long while, the course is about 30 miles away, but I'll make my own.

I'm having to wait till Feb or March before I can take mine, things just didn't work out to take it this Fall. It's sitting in the garage (just like me!) as it's gotten real cold here and I don't want to have to UN-learn wrong things. Gives me a chance to go through the service manual and double check everything in the meantime.
While the MSF range is across town, a mile from my house is the Driver's License Testing Station, complete with a BIG lot filled with cones that's completely deserted on the weekends. This sits in an entire block of State of Tennessee offices, with cops and state troopers coming and going all the time. Hilly, curves, empty all weekend long.
So I'll have my own practice range, patrolled 24/7 . . . . now I can finally say I'm getting some good for my taxes I pay ! ! !

I highly recommend the MSF course, especially for beginners, but for everyone else as well. I took both the beginners and experienced courses several years ago, even though I already had my license. I also make it a point to make EVERY ride a practice session. It not only makes the ride more enjoyable, to me anyway, but keeps you sharp and constantly improves your skills. For example, everytime I stop, it is an exercise in braking technique.

And every time you are riding down a residential or town street you are getting a lesson in vigilance, lane selection and once in a while quick stops.
