Sorry Jerry, I wish it worked out for ya... Never know I may share the same troubles with ya.. Gotta try it though.. just need to get the nuts and bolts and finish drilling... Maybe I'll get it on there and try it out before it gets too cold and actually paint and polish it later.

Hey all.. It's been a while! OK.. Tried the windshield, gave it a very fair shot, but I gotta say that it is not for the stock Rebel. But first let me say this, Thank You Cagie for answering all my questions about this project.

Unfortuanately I hit a few snags along the way, but for the most part it looks great on the bike. First of all with the design the way it is I could only get the horizontal adjustment back about 1/4 of the way, so the shield was mostly straight up as it could go, and at the same time was hitting my speedometer. In the origional pics I neglected to see that cagie had an aftermarket speedo and different handlebar risers. In order for it to work with a stock Rebel I think the horizontal adjustment plate needs to be about 3 inches wider.

Vertically, it is too short for me and was getting a good amount of buffeting from about 45mph and up, whether thats due to it not being tilted back far enough I dont know. I got rid of some of the buffeting by sliding the adjustments all the way up and moving the mount to the lower 2 bolts on the lower supports, but unfortunately with that there is a big hole between the headlight and the buttom of the shield cutout. Now I have a nice breeze bouncing off the gas tank through the hole and under my helmet face shield.

I just couldnt get it to work for me for the Stock Rebel, but it looks great I will say that. Thanks again cagie for all your help and advice through my process. It was worth a shot, not bashing your design, and if anyone can take from this and make it work, please let us know so I can build me another one. I had alot of fun doing it and it kept me busy. Right now I am working on getting my Shadow project completed.. I have all my parts and pieces, just waiting for a little help to get the engine in it, and the rest is the easy part.

I'm still around, just been busy, havent left ya's.

If the engine is too heavy for you to lift in by yourself you can get it in by draining all the fluids out and laying the motor on its side. Then you can lay the frame down over the motor and bolt it all together and stand the whole assembly back up. I have even seen this done with the wheels and tires on.

Never woulda thunk it! lmao, never even woulda crossed my mind, I got a friend coming over tonight and the only lifting will be to put the engine on the jack and have him help me guide it in place.

Its a good way to do it if your motor is painted and you dont wanna scratch it tying to wrestle it into the frame.

I've changed back and forth between two windshields several times, and never had to remove the engine to do it. Next time, I'll make a video. I think it will save you lots of work.

UGH perhaps the winshield discussion strayed a bit.. lol

Got the engine set in... bit of a pain in the butt, and broke my fuel line splitter.. another $15 to spend. And hopefully wont have to wait another week to get it too.. so far the dealer has only had a cotter pin in stock for my Shadow.
