Cagie, I have almost everything now to make this with one exception...the Lexan. Do you have any supply sources? Lowes doesn't have lexan that thick.

I have found 3mm on ebay. have also found it on a couple of other on-line sources that I googled, but have never bought any that way. Do you have a Home Depot, that is where I got the .093" stuff.

Hey, if anyone builds one of these, could you give us an idea of how much it cost you? I know I paid around $40 for the materials, but that's here in South Central PA. I would be curious what it would cost in other parts of the country.

Cagie, I really like the looks of your classic windshield and am considering taking up this project myself. The supplies and tools shouldn't be a problem but I was wondering what steps you used to bend the Lexan? I have not worked with it much in the past and was wondering if there were any tricks or tips you might have.

The Lexan is bent using the steel as a form. Bolt the middle and clamp the steel/lexan/aluminum together as shown in the picture above and drill/bolt Finger tight, working your way out to the edge, it forms easily enough without heating. It is important to work slow and only drill the lexan when you are ready to bolt it. Tighten down to just past finger tight to keep the Lexan from cracking.

18"x24" lexan...$14.97
3/4"w, 1/8"x48" steel...$4.99
3/4"w, 1/8"x48" aluminum...$5.59
Sorry I don't have a price for the sheet aluminum, but like cagie I found some aluminum scrap.
I have about $20 in hardware because I bought stainless steel for the most part.

All prices in US dollars.

I haven't had time to do much with my materials so far, but I'm getting a little done here and there. The bars are all cut to length I just need to drill and bend.
