Lift rear wheel off the ground(motor cycle jack is best). Disconnect torsion bar from bottom of brake panel. Remove adjusting nut from brake linkage, real easy you probably won't need any tools for that. Use a 17mm wrench and a 22mm wrench and loosen the rear axle. Try to support the rear wheel when doing this next step. Loosen the chain adjusters. Push wheel forward and take chain off sprocket and pull axle from wheel. With the wheel out be carefull because the brake panel will just pull right off!

Now that you have the brake panel off you will want to :

1. remove the springs. Easiest to carefully pry the bottom brake shoe out to relieve pressure on the spring. Use needlenose pliers to remove the springs.

2. remove the shoes.

3. Clean out the drum of brake dust, debri, etc. Inspect the drum for any abnormalities, deep scratches, excessive wear, etc. If you determine there sould be damage, I would recommend taking the drum into a certified shop to either turn the drum or replace.

4. install new shoes. Make sure the indented part of the shoe goes over the cam.

5. insert springs.

6. Work the cam by turning the lever to ensure that the shoes are engaging the cam properly.

7. re-install rear wheel (Rear axle torque is about 57 ft/lbs IRRC)
