Nice one
I think we should tag the Rebel:
"More smiles per mile, more miles per smile!"[/QUOTE]
Now that's what we should have on the T-shirts!!!!!!!!Nice one Cagie
When I got my Rebel, I thought ,this will be a great leaning bike, small, nimble, easy to ride then I will move to a bigger bike next year. 1,200 miles later and there is no way I am getting rid of my Rebel. I wen't for a ride today with my brother (he has a Harley Road King) and I had no trouble keeping up with him and I was even smoother in the twisties. We stopped for a water and even he had to admit that the Rebel was a great bike, and to me thats quite a complemet from my big brother a Harley man all his life.

Noob reviving an old thread......
I've had my 09 Rebel 250 about a week now and have already put almost 200 miles on it. I love the bike. About a year and a half ago, we bought a Honda Shadow 600 VLX Deluxe. My husband settled for this "smaller" bike knowing I wanted to get back into riding (I hadn't ridden in over 15 years). Well, the Shadow always felt too big and I didn't ride it much. I took the Shadow in for service and there on the showroom floor was the Rebel. If seeing it wasn't enough, when I sat on it, I knew I had to have it.
I have had the bike on the highway and winding country roads. It handles like a charm. There is more vibration at highway speeds (65mph around here) but the bike is not really made for long distance highway riding. I don't feel like I'm going to "topple" over like I did on the Shadow. I can make sharp turns without putting (or feeling like I need to put) my foot down. The seat does get a bit uncomfy on longer rides. I'm hoping when I change the number on the pre-load springs, that will be less of a problem. My youngest daughter turns 17 years old in January and has always wanted to learn to ride. I let her on the bike and she actually was able to ride it in 1st gear with no problem. We will learn the gears much later. =) I would like the foot brake to be a tad bit lower so I don't feel like my foot is resting on it all the time. I would also like to raise the shifter a bit so it's easier to get my foot under it when shifting. Both very easy fixes.
All in all, I love this bike. It's quick and fast enough for a beginner or someone who hasn't ridden in a while like myself. It handles well, is lightweight, and is low enough to put your feet flat on the ground.

Welcome to the clan and great review, Skewts! Fellow noob here with the same feelings for my Rebel which I've had for about 5-months. Can't get enough time on it to suit me! I'm still so happy with my decision for my first bike and can't recommend it highly enough for new bikers. Stay smart, keep smiling and ride on!

Thanks Whitty....I'm really loving this site. It's full of so much useful information and the people here are so nice. I'm not interested in modifying my bike as a bobber but would like to do something to make it a bit unique....just don't know what that is yet.

I have had other bikes, like the 883 Harley Sportster. I have had a '90 and a '95 both low riders They were both top heavy for me. The only bikes I have really felt comfortable on was a 1958 Harley Davidson I had back in the 70's full dress, and the rebel 450. I can sit flat footed and it isn't too heavy to move around with to much trouble.
I would give the 450 a 41/2 out of 5.

My 07 cmx250 in red was without a doubt the best product for the money that I've purchased in a long time. It's loads of fun, feels really safe, looks really good, handles really well and goes fast enough to get you a speeding ticket anywhere you take it. Yes it is smaller than the rest but to me that adds a little charm to it. I get 70 mpg and the fastest I've ridden it is 75 mph. It does 65 mph without a problem. I'm totally satisfied with it and highly recommend it to anyone who wants a very cool street bike that is worth the money, which is somewhere around 2500 bucks for a low mile Rebel in like new condition.
