Do your bike a favor!
Hey everybody,
Im Ralph. If your new to cycling. A rebel 250 is a great bike for the value! One thing you probably wont even think about is your bikes fuel sytem. Im not knocking Honda...but probably for economic reasons they dont factory install an inline fuel filter.
Please, DO YOUR BIKE A FAVOR...go downt to NAPA and buy an inline filter kit...about five dollars...it comes with clamps and the filter. remove the line bewteen the fuel cut off and the carb...cut about 1and1/2 inches off the line..reinstall the line and filter. You will be amazed at the crap the filter will catch. This 5 dollar mod will save hundreds in carb jet cleaning or for you do it yourselfer's, it will save you hours in maintenance.
Take care all!

Hi Ralph! Good point yer making. A good fuel line filter is probably the best money you can spend. Most all auto parts stores sell them. I've even used lawn mower in line filters.
Thanks for bringing that up.
Henry

Good advice, and someting we often suggest. Never hurts to say it again. I like the small clear filter with the cylindrical metal filter media. Mount it with the end of the cylinder facing the fuel tank and you'll be able to see what it removes from the fuel. Mine was $3 and change at O'Riley.

Do Your Bike A Favor
Does anyone have a part number from either NAPA or O'Rielly's for the clear filter? I have an '08 that doesn't have an inline filter and I definitely need to add it.

I am interested in one as well. I don't want to cut the existing fuel line.
Where can I get another fuel line to go with the filter?

The one I got from ORiley was on a card in the front part of the store. Clerk didn't even know they were there.
I'm guessing here, but I think 1/4" fuel line will do the trick. You can take your existing line to the auto parts place and have them measure it for ya.

I got a clear filter at a lawnmower service shop. It softened and bent over time; I suspect ethanol got to it. It never did leak, but still I check mine regularly. Napa has fuel line by the foot. I keep a spare in my saddle bag.

Got a baggy of the little filters and several feet of the alcohol resistant fuel line. Once a year, fuel line and filter gets replaced.

I finally got around to putting a fuel filter on my Rebel. I just got a big order (to avoid shipping charges) in from Dennis Kirk. Mostly maintenance stuff for all my bikes. I got 6 of these. http://tinyurl.com/2vb2vpe Installation took maybe 2 minutes. I cut out a 1" section of the stock fuel line with a razor blade, and replaced it with the filter. No clamps necessary, it was a tight leakproof fit. I have this same filter on my XT225, XR400, and TRX250 quad. Jerry.
