I know im completely necro-ing this thread but I swear i have something usefull to input.

I live out in west texas and deer become a big problem on the county roads at night because of the lack of traffic. I came up with a deer-turrent system that works pretty well, basically I took my old paintball gun [a tippmann 98 custom and a bmf activator] hook the activator up to an electric motor and run the wires to a switch on the handgrips. the whole thing was attached to the side of my saddlebag and offset so I didnt shoot up my leg when I pulled the trigger button in. set the fps as high as it would go without breaking paint and went off looking for deer!

how it works: when you see a deer your natural reaction is to tense up, this will cause your index finger to pull the trigger button in. The trigger button turns the bmf activator and fires the paintball gun several times. the paintballs are traveling at least 300fps which is around 204mph [way faster than you should be going anyways] so the paintballs hit the deer, the deer thinks you are way closer than you really are and runs off the road with pink and yellow paint on its side [which is alot better than your bike being there]

Saved me and mine several times, unfortunately I sold the bike that had it on it or I would upload pics, Im looking at getting an 05 rebel soon so Ill prolly build another unit on that one and post pics the whole way so that you and yours can ride safe and have a peace of mind knowing that your chances of hitting a deer are drastically reduced.

Ride Safe!

Cool solution. Not suitable for me, living in Dallas, but I like the ingenuity behind it.

I can understand that! Sure don't want to ride through Dealey Plaza with that rig.

I'd mostly be concerned with being seen by local LE riding around with a barrel mounted on my bike. It could result in a very unpleasant encounter with the SWAT team.

the rig was contained in a fiberglass frame for easy mounting and less drag, it only had about two inches of barrel showing and looked like a backward exhaust pipe. the le around here liked it so long as I didnt fire it at anything but deer while on the road.

I'm not sure I'd trust myself with such a device. Too easy to take a non-lethal parting shot at some maroon running me off the road.

Berkel would have loved this one on his Red Baron...
