Wiring help please
I'm trying to get my Rebel going and am replacing wiring harness. I also replaced the right handlebar control and the plug in was missing. Plug in is also missing off of the ignition switch. I have matched up as many wires as I can by color and this is what I have left:
From Right Handlebar Control: Black and a Black w/white stripe
From Ignition Switch: Red
Black
Brown
Brown w/White Stripe
From Left Handlebar switch: White
Blue
On Wiring Harness: Red w/White
Red w/Black Stripe
Brown w/White
Green w/Black stripe
2 Black w/White stripe (One Male/One female)
Please help me figure out what goes where!!!

I'm assuming that the red from the ignition switch goes to Either the Red/White or Red/Black. Which one and where would the other go?
I'm thinking the Black/White from the Right Control goes to the One on Harness with Female plug. Where would the Black/White with Male plug go?
I'm pretty sure the Green/White from Wiring Harness and White and Blue from Left Control goes to headlight.
Would Black from Ignition Switch go to Black from Handlebar control?
Brown/White on wiring harness and Ignition Switch, do these go together?
Leaves me with the other Red that does not go to Ignition switch, Brown coming off Ignition switch and Black/White on wiring harness with Male plug.
I hate to be pain in butt but I need help getting this baby runnin

Here is the color coded wiring diagram.
I see a red to red, brown with white to brown with white.
There is a dark green a black and white, a black and a brown.

I appreciate the diagram but I guess I'm kinda slow. I can't figure out what goes where.

For starters, the wire colors are different with the newer generation Rebels than the 80's rebs. In fact it's not even the same harness. I can't tell what year Reb you have by the colors your calling out. You need to supply some more info!

Let me go thru what I have done and what is left.
Coming off Key switch I have :
Red
Black
Brown
Brown/white stripe
From Right handlebar
Black
Black/white stripe
Brown/Red Stripe connected to Brown/Red Stripe from harness
Yellow/Red Stripe connected to Yellow/Red stripe on harness
Green to Green on Harness
Green/Yellow Stripe to Green/Yellow stripe on harness
From Left Handlebar
Blue that goes to headlight
White that goes to headlight
Still unconnected from End of Harness
Red (has white squares on it spaced apart)
Red with Black stripe
Green
Black with white stripe times 2- One has male plug and other has female
Brown with white squares spaced apart
Blue with white squares spaced apart.
Best I can come up with
Red goes to Red from Key switch
Red with Black stripe goes to Black from Key switch
Green to headlight
Both Black/White stripes to Black/White Stripe from Handlebar
Would leave me a Blue and a Brown from Harness. Black from Right Handlebar. and both Brown and Brown/White stripe from Key switch.
Am I getting close?

Been working with guy from Justanswers.com and have connections made.
To Ignition switch
Red to Red
Red/Black to Black
Green to Brown
Black/White to Brown/White
To Right Handle Bar
Black/White to Black/White
Brown to Black
Brown for some reason was connected to plug where Black would have plugged in so I'm assuming it must go to the Black.
Turn on switch and nothing!!!
Turn off switch and blows fuse

ignition switch:
red to red- you have correct
black to red black- you have correct
green to green- you have wrong and will blow the fuse with the switch off
black white to black white- my prints don't even show any brown white wires, are you sure about the color.
Green wires always go to ground or negative (-) if you prefer.
right handle bar is correct.

I don't mean to complificate things, but I've been trying to make sense of all this, and the green thing has me puzzled. If green is ground as in most things electrical, how does green to green cause a short when the switch is turned to off?
