Turn Signaling..added safety tip
When I am making a turn into my driveway, which is on a pretty busy road, I use an arm signal also. I keep a check in the mirror too and make sure the vehicle behind me sees that I am about to slow down and make a turn. The arm signal move seems to add a little extra safety measure. I noticed it today while making a difficult turn, had the turn signal on but the vehicle behind me didn't seem to be slowing down, when I put my arm out indicating a turn it immediatley slowed down. The sun was pretty bright and maybe the turn signal wasn't that visible.

Get used to being invisible. Anything you can do to make yourself or your bike more conspicuous is a plus. Be careful when hand signaling though, that you are ready to grab the bars and run if you have to.

I had a similar one on my scooter last year. The driver behind be actually pulled up along side to tell me he was a bike rider, and my blinker was hard to see, and I should use hand signal, expecially when birght out. Actully the scooter had a messed up, glued together blinker lens, that blocked the light, bought a new lense after that..........But hand signals work well!!!

I ride my Rebel without turn signals, and use arm signals only. Cagers seem to notice that more than they do the turn signals. They probably have no idea what it means, but it seems to get their attention. I'm a big believer in being as visible as possible. I also wear a solid white helmet and orange vest. Jerry.

I use a white helmet too, along with a black leather jacket, seems to be a good contrast that is noticed, the jacket also has orange reflective stripes 360.
