After many tries I did get it open, and then I checked out the "extensive " (huge) set of tools.
It took a while to get them all back into that bag and then get the bag back into the box, and get the cover back on the box.
I think I've only opened that box two times since haveing my Rebel.
Maybe that box was designed to give us Rebel owners something to do on a rainy day.... Good thing they don't make finding, and opening the tool box part of the MSF training course,,,

lool ... with reading all the pain you ppl gone through, i think i am no longer interested in the tool box, let rust in its place heheheheheh. actually i tried to give a shot to open it today, but i was lazy enough to give up the idea from the 1st 10 mins

in my case it is a super tight fit. the turny part of the lock could probably use a little grease. and the cap only kind of fits.
maybe over the years one or both pieces changed shape. is it possible for plastic to expand and shrink?
