2016 250 Rebel

does anybody know where the oil filter is located and how to change it on a 2016 250 Rebel? I've got this engine apart and I'll be damned if I can't find a oil filter anywhere in it

It doesn't have an oil filter...so get a magnetic drain plug and dipstick for a little bit of help, if desired.

BTW, just to be safe, I normally change the oil at intervals no greater than 2,000 miles, not the recommended 4,000 (and some say do it every 1,000). You'll end up with a longer-living Rebel if you change the oil at LEAST twice as often as Honda recommends.

There is a screen in the sump ahead of the oil pump. It's not designed to catch and store particles, it's there to keep stuff from getting into the oil pump and lube system.

The screen just keeps chunks out of the oil pump. By the time you see stuff on the screen you already have had a problem.

Since you already had a problem, it might be a good idea to clean that screen.
