Question for bigger guys

I'm kind of a big guy, 6'2" 280 lbs. Some might say I'm a little disproportional for my rebel. Just wondering if there are any other guys here around my height/weight and how well your rides go considering the effect on the bike your weight has, or how to sit more comfortably because of your height, etc.
thanks!

I'm 6'1" & 280+lbs if you include boots & helmet.

I have forward controls I made my self & put on 2" handle bar risers, this makes the bike better, but still need more power for the highway.

I am 5'11" 286 lbs I keep my '86 250 Rebel off the highway. She's all I need for everywhere else, although I regularly drop a few gears climbing these hills here in Tennessee.

If I could have found a 450 in good shape when I set out seeking an early Rebel, I would have preferred it. But none worth having could be found around these parts at that time. LOL

A 250 will have no issue handling the weight. Comfort is subjective though, but easily & readily remedied.

I have not found a solution for the seat problem, unless you by a $350 seat, but rather save the money for a bigger bike.

Am I missing something?

I did cut my seat up & put some silicon hex in, it got better, I think the real problem is how narrow the seat is.

Taller bars and forward controls. A 6" mini-ape hanger adds two inches of height and does not require any new cables or lines, and the FC kit from BCB takes care of the leg room. Total cost for both is about $100 less than the proposed seat you mentioned.

Granted a replacement seat makes it more comfortable, but my claim is making it fit. The stock seat is the furthest thing from comfort no matter what your size & weight are. I swear I saw a Rebel seat once on a History channel documentary covering medieval torture devices. ;)

I have 2" handle bar risers - not the simplest to install, but was only $45 cad
& I made custom forward controls out of 24mm wrenches($10 each) & an 1/2" ratchet extension(had cold weld epoxy) for the brake pedal.
as for the shifter extension - I used parts off my Baja 5b.
