Unhappy Help replacing clutch cable?

My clutch cable snapped right at the lever base. Cable is still there dangling but not connected to the base anymore. It's still in the lever. Just got my 85 Rebel so still kinda new. I was hoping this is an easy fix that I could do myself. Thanks!

Its not a very hard job, you should be able to get a clutch cable fairly reasonable. there are a couple nut to loosen one the clutch arm on the motor and then loosen the big round jam nut on the clutch lever and the rest is pretty self explanitory. Should take 20 or 30 minutes.

when I busted my clutch cable I went to the local hardware store and bought 3/32" steel cable. Drilled a 5/16" bolt shoulder and cut to length (I think it was 3/8"). The pear end is a steel rivet drilled. All pieces then brazed together. I made a spare one that is in my saddlebags. I didn't cut it off from the 6 foot length in case someone esle needed it when I am out and about..
