Differences 250 and 450
Other then the engine size is there any other differances between the 250 and the 450 Rebels? I recenty purchased a 450 that I'm rebuilding and was wondering if the 250 had many of the same parts. Any help would be great. Thanks

Welcome. Basically, the 250 and 450 are completely different bikes that happen to share the same name and a similar appearance. None of the parts are the same, except possibly common parts like brake pads, tires, spark plugs, etc. The handlebars are interchangeable.
The Rebel 450 is a great bike, in fact it is a much better all around bike than the 250 due to it's larger size, and it is unfortunate that Honda didn't build more of them. But they were only built for two years, and both new and used parts are very difficult to find for them. Try Jacks Rebel Warehouse. Jerry.

Welcome, and congrats on finding a good bike. Jack from Jack's Rebel Warehouse can give you the best advise as to what parts are interchangeable, and what's available. Some parts are getting very hard to find. You can also look up parts at bikebandit.com. If the part numbers are the same on both bikes, they are the same part.

I can already tell you that the hardest oem parts to find would be the exhaust system and wheels. The local cycle salvage yard (called Bob's, and it is HUGE, biggest in the southwest) told me they hadn't seen any Rebel 450 exhaust systems or wheels in decent condition in many years. The wheels are unique to the Rebel 450, and in fact, unique to all of motorcycling. They were designed specifically for the 450, and were, unfortunately never used on another bike. They allow the use of tubeless tires on wire spoke rims. If Honda still has the patent on this design, I don't know why they don't use it on all their bikes with spoke wheels. Jerry.

gas tanks are right up there as far as "no longer available" items go. i stocked up on good used wheels over the years. exhaust systems .. about the same level as gas tanks. i agree whole heartedly on the tubless tire use on the 450. ahead of its time for a bike that size. same can be said for the 6th speed overdrive. i am the original owner of my 1987 450 ... one of those times i don't have to say, "i wish i would have kept it"
