Can I raise my Rebel 450's seat?

I guess I'm what you call a mature rider (soon 74). I've been riding Honda's
since the Marine Corps in 1959. I've had a 150 Honda Dream, CB160, CB200,
CB350, CB360 & a 1975 CB400F. Notice all are what I call "staddle" type bikes as opposed to my newly purchased 1986 Rebel 450, which is a "sit on" style bike, in my jargon.
The Rebel seat causes these old legs problems...my hips seem to almost be below my knees (I'm 6', 230lbs). Is there anyway I can effectively raise the seat on the 450 Rebel? I'm having difficulty moving my right foot off the peg to the ground when stopping.
Any suggestion would be appreciated.
Don

Thought I responded to this already, but don't see it. There are seat pads (gel, sheepskin, etc.), that will elevate you some. Another option would be to remove the cover on the stock seat, glue on more (high density) foam, and recover.

There are quite a few mature riders here!

Yeah, I thought I had responded too...

I had suggested moving the controls forward a bit to relieve the pressure. I suffer from arthritus and this has helped the reduce the pain from having my knees above my hips or long periods of time.
