The good news is you won't have to carry all that much!

Bike aside if I had to bug out I'd come here to Texas. One of the few places the economy isn't tanked. If it was a matter of leaving the US? Personally I'd head to Nassau. I know the bike wouldn't help but you could take it easy enough. Not sure on customs though. Personally if I had to bug out I'd sell the bike and get a small sail boat. Just have to watch for pirates (the real ones). But for land, I'd hate it but I'd head to Canada too before Mexico, with the turmoil going on down there. Besides my family is from Montreal. I just hate the cold.

Hwy 97 leads right up to Osoyoos. Then I was thinking maybe up to Revelstoke, then follow the Columbia down to Hwy 3, then back into WA. Just something I can do on a weekend.

Hopefully, I can talk the spouse into getting his passport, so he can come with me.......

Anyone have tips on what would be a good speed to cruise all day ?and for how long without stressing the engine.will probably stop at 2 motels at night.
Three days drive in total

1000 km a day is doable, but i suggest you have the seat redone first. Took my Rebel on a 8000 km trip a couple years ago. Normal speeds were pretty much wide open throttle for 8-10 hours a day. I guess about 90-95 kmph. There were fuel stops and a lunch break included. We stayed off the interstates as much as possibly, mainly because in Montana, Wyoming and the Dakotas, highway speeds are 120kmph+, and the little bike can't keep up with that. And I despise the slab, even in the car.

My bike has the 30 tooth rear sprocket, that helps. Before we left on the trip, I did a thorough tune up, replaced the plugs, put in synth oil, new tires (bike already had 20,000K on it), new chain, etc. Yours, obviously, won't need all that.

I checked the oil every morning, and after the lunch break. I found that when it was hot out (~35+C) it burned oil. I bought two qts of dino oil at a Honda dealer that we came across, and added as needed. Oil change was done about the halfway point. The bike burned about 1 1/2 qts on the trip. Not surprising, though. I lost count of the mtn passes that we did (including Beartooth Pass, outside of Yellowstone) and there were 6 or 7 35+C days.

The bike performed perfectly. And there was no babying of the bike at all. Poor thing.

But the bike now has roughly 42,000 kms on it, and it still runs great.
