2006 HOG Rally Killarny Ireland. (on the rebel)

Hi Guys.

It's been a while since I posted enything here on the forum....I guess its got somthing to do with me getting my license

Anyways I been on a Long trip with my Rebel. Me my dad and a friend of him had this trip planned for a long time, but it all depended on me passing my pratical mc test. I had the test only 10 days before the trip, so if I had failed, I wouldn't be able to go. Therfore I did'nt want to shout out too much about it either

Another thing was my final exam. We arent told wether we get an exam or not before 24hours before the exam date. This also happend to be the day before we were supposed to go on the trip. Thankfully we didn't get an exam, and I was free to go

It's picture time:

Okay, so we did cheat a little bit. We took the bikes on a trailer from Trondheim to Fredrikstad(Oslo) approx 580kilometers. When we got to Fredrikstad we left the car and trailer to a friend who lives there....from fredrikstad we drove the bikes about 300 kilometers to Kristiansand. From there we took the fery to Newcastle.
On the fery to Newcastle:

There were many other Norwegians taking the boat too(thats me to the left btw)

From Newcastle we drove to Stranraer(wich i belive is in Scotland) And took a fery over to Belfast. From Belfast we drove directly down to Killarny.

Random pic from somwhere in Scotland (on the way to Stranraer)

In Killarny:

It was great down there...There were bikes everywhere!

This pic is from the HOG headquarters. All the bikes got ID bands around the handlebars and the drivers got a wristband with numbers matching the bike, to ensure noone left the place with anyone elses bike (this was checked every time you left the area)

HOG also had a tent with all the 2006 line Harley's in it. You could sit on all the bikes....I ofcourse fell in love with the buell

A couple of pics from the custom bike show:

yeah, it's a harley (and boy is it a ugly one )

Here's a pic from the parade. (well, i dont think you could call it a parade, we were standing still most of the time )

Thats just about all the pics I've got for now.

This is a trip we'll never forget. We had a great time, and got a lot of new friends. My a$$ hurt for a week after the trip, but it was all worth it

And btw. we didn't have any problems with the bikes at all My bike didn't use any oil whatsoever. I'm amazed how good it held up, considering that it ran on full throtle all the time for 3000 kilometers!

I have so much to tell that i don't bother writing it all down

See ya all later

Hey Are, Great ride report, I'm glad everything is going good for you. We have missed you on the forums, and I was wondering how your dual carb project was comeing along, ? did you have it on your bike for this trip. I hope you can find time to bring us up to date on some of your excellent modifications to your bike.

It's GOOD to hear from you

Howard

Hi Howard.

Yes I had the dual carbs on for the trip. I worked OK. at the time but not perfect (jetsizes were way off) The rebel acctually used more fuel than the 1450 harleys

Check out the dual carb post in the cool mods section for an update on the jetting and stuff
