Will 2011 cyclinder fit 2016

Im a new motorcycle owner and need to purchase a cylinder and piston kit. Everything i find is on eBay and only is compatible up to 2011. my rebel is a 2016. will it cross over ?
I cant find any detailed specs online that would state that i couldn't. looking at pictures the only difference is in the heat sink fin design. Any help would be amazing.
hope this question makes sense.

It should work. But why do you need a new cylinder block and pistons for a brand new bike? Just wondered because I also have a 2016.

Welcome to the forum king. That is really unfortunate, and unusual for a new Rebel, as they have proven to be very reliable over the last 32 years. Please share what happened to your engine. Also being a 2016, why is it not still under warranty, or if it is, why are you doing this instead of taking it back to the dealer?

As far as I know, all 2nd generation Rebels, i.e. 1996-2016, are the same. You could confirm this with your Honda dealer or any parts vender.

I got the same kit from eBay for a 2011 (piston kit) for my 2016 250 Rebel.. as you see here the new cylinders and Pistons have been installed and fit perfectly. Gaskets and bolts are all the same. Still assembling this engine and I should have it complete in a couple days..

Wow. It seems really odd to me that we have 2 new 2016 Rebels with engine failures on here at the same time. I don't ever remember 2 engine failures on here at the same time from all the years combined. Engine failures on the Rebel are rare, and on 2 new bikes at the same time is conspicuous at best.

I think Honda made cheaper engine parts for their 2016 Rebel.
The 2011 cylinder block is wider and with larger area of cooling surface than the 2016 version...

Wow again. Definitely did not know that. I thought they were all the same from 1996 on.

Maybe they knew 2016 was the last year of production and tried to use up all the previously rejected parts to clean house.
