Towing with a rebel??

Could I tow a 150 lb trailer with a rebel if I can build an apropriate hitch for it? T-shaped frame with car top plastic box on top of it?

Maybe, but drag will be significant and your speed and mileage will be much lower. Sorta like pulling a water skier with a small motor; gonna be a strain. If you don't have too much to haul, a large custom luggage rack might be a better option!

Are you going to ride 2 up with the trailer? How fast do need to go with the trailer? If you are packing up and hitting the interstate I would be afraid the trailer might cause problems. You need to load a trailer front heavy to avoid sway and it might be too much that far back on the Rebel to be safe. If its around town or rural roads it might work. You could drop 1 tooth on the countershaft sprocket like the sidehacks do to make up for the extra load. Remember, you can get it moving, but can you get it stopped.

I would be concerned about how it's going to affect traction and control. There will have to be some sort of of pivot to allow you to lean into turns, and to allow it to track behind you as you do. If it skids out to the side on a turn, It'll take the rear wheel out from under you. Also, what will it do under hard braking? I guess if it were me, I'd look at similar trailer designs for commercially available trailers, and compare their max weight, etc. with the weight of the bikes they are meant to tow behind. It should at least give you an idea of whether it is feasible or not.

I wasn't talking about bolting directly to the frame, would use standard 1-7/8 ball. Most comercial tralers are aprox. 300 lbs. and I am just using for hitting the campground, a straight up shot 10 miles away. Gotta go sometimes, you know what I mean? Skidding in aturn is not good no matter how you do it, for that matter. And I have fresh brakes instead of the 25000 mile ones I got it with. My main thought was if anyone else had been to the detroit college of engineering for this !?

Thanks Fridgitator but I wasn't going to buy one and don't want to use it for a camper. I was just going to make the most simple and light thing that I can to keep weight on the bike low and easy to deal with.

I only meant that you could get some ideas about your design.
