Just realize that CMX250 shocks are intended for a curb weight of 660 pounds (or whatever the max safe load rating is plus wet weight of the 250). While it doesn't pose as much of an issue for a 450 Rebel, you can see where it may cause problems for say...a 660 pound bike.

LOL, that was aimed at someone who might try it on say...a Road King. Yes, it's been done before. I can only imagine how nice of a ride that would be. I think I'd rather go rigid as opposed to a set of shocks that bottom out over pebbles in the road.

For Harleys, you can get anything you want from the aftermarket, including really short shocks that were designed for the weight of a large heavy bike. Things are a lot more limited for Japanese bikes. If you use really short shocks, you won't have any suspension anyway, plus the fender will probably hit the tire. If you want it super low, just go with struts, and live with the pain. Jerry.

And make the paint on the fender burn and bubble. Seen that happen a few times on other people's bikes.

Hi there, Nice 450. Have a good time on it. I really like mine, they have the 6 speed which makes it less noisy on the freeway, and easy to keep up with traffic that is going 70 plus.
I will have to put a set of 250 shocks on one of mine to see how much lower the rear end is.

Ride safe

i have a quick question about the factory air box. it is definately a unique design. when i first took it appart i took the cover off the left hand side and noticed a fully sealed cover. why is this painted cover vented? to look like an air intake? cooling air in the box? or did honda just put the hole in the wrong spot? ive just noticed that my vents were starting to rust out and im really in need of painting them. i would like to sand blast it down because it already has a few coats of paint on it, but not sure how necessary it would be. it would probably clean up the look a little bit.
