My Reb started "ticking" almost hard valveknocking! Help please

I was riding with a friend today, we rode pretty hard and i enden up with WOT for about 500metres. When i let of the gas and braked to normal speed, the engine suddenly starts tick loud as h*ll, almost knocking sound, but a bit weaker, as it was coming from the valves. I thought the cam chain might have loosened, took of the top and checked it, it was in good shape and sat like it should on the sprocket. I checked the oil, and the bike had nice brown oil, and it smelled like it should.

The recent owner was a girl, and the bike had not been running hard, like we guys ride them. So, the question is, can the valves have come loose a bit?

This is the second engine i have in it, (the recent owner of the first one hade destroyed it) So i will get really pissed if it's completely broken.

Any suggestions?

Were all the adjusting lock nuts still tight? I have had them come loose before on a SOHC 750.

If it sounds like BB's rattling around at high rpm's, that's normal. At lower rpm's my engine sounds normal. In fifth gear with stock sprockets it happens over 50 mph.

Because it was dark, i had trouble seeing if any screws were loose, i will check it in the morning! Bb2ner: What did it sound like when that happened?

The sound is like valves ticking, only much higher. I can hear it on all RPM's, so i don't think it is because of any bearings.

Question Ticking Noise

Greetings PyrionZ,

Can you give some more history on the Rebel and the engine?

The engine is a 2000 mod 125cc
It has ran about 16.7770mi if that is the right value? It's 27.000km's
The recent owner changed oil before every season, she only ran it with quality oil, I don't know much more about it..

ck for an exhaust leak. I had a similar problem with my 450. thought it was a rod knock. use a peice of hose as a stethescope and listen around the pipe clamps at the head. I hope you get lucky and find it here as I did.
