Seems like every bike I've ever had has a different procedure for changing the fork seals, as well as draining and refilling fork oil. Hopefully someone who has done it on a Rebel will be able to tell you. Jerry.

I haven't ever changed the seal on the Rebel but it looks like it's just a little different from the video from what I can gather looking at the Clymer service manual. There are some extra bushings in there that the video doesn't show. you should run to the library and see if they have a copy (isbn 0-89287-849-5). But it loks pretty close as far as the process.

fluid level should be 8.1 oz (283cc) per leg.

Fork oil. Honda OEM oil is 8w I believe. I am using HD racing fork oil which I believe is 20w. That stiffens up the front end quite a bit.

Most folks use 10W to 20W because it is more available. Some use ATF rather than fork specific oil.

You can use 10 or 15 weight fork oil, just get the correct amount in.
