Loosen the damper rod bolt using an 8 mm Allen wrench.
Remove the previously loosened fork cap bolts.
Caution; The fork cap bolts are under pressure from the fork springs, be careful when removing them.
Remove the fork springs.
Hold the fork legs upside down over a container and pump them several times to drain the fork oil.
Remove the already loosened damper rod bolts and sealing washers. Discard the sealing washers.
Remove the dust seal using a small flat blade screwdriver.
Remove the fork seal retaining clip using a flat blade screwdriver.
Separate the inner and outer fork tubes by pulling them apart using a slide hammer motion.
Remove the oil lock piece.
Do not remove the fork tube bushing unless it shows significant wear to warrant replacement. . To remove the fork tube bushing insert a flat blade screwdriver and twist to open the gap.
Slide the dust seal, fork seal retaining clip, fork seal, fork seal seat and anti-friction bushing off of the inner fork tube.
Remove the circlip from the damper rod.
Slide the damper rod and top out spring out of the inner fork tube.

Yeah.. all forks are a little different, but yet basically the same.. I change fork seals at the shop all the time.. and although there are difference I can usually figure it out.. when I am disassembling them, or anything, I pay attention to how every thing goes together...

It doesn't always go as smoothly as I would like.. the first time I change the seals in an air assisted fork, I actually didn't know it was air assisted and didn't let out the air first.. now I know...LOL

You can take it apart again. If the seals are good, they can be reassembled.
The thing is there is a leak from somewhere.
Rough fork tubes will destroy seals in short order. The sliding surface must be clean and free of pits, dents or sharp edges. If the area that the seal slides over is damaged, then the tubes need to be replaced and new seals installed.
scars on the area that does not go in to the lowers are unsightly but not damaging to seals.

As for opening fire on a person or persons, I strongly caution against that. most jurisdictions tend to frown on that sort of thing...

Brett,

I keep coming across this on another Forum, and BuickGuy was nice enough to point me there the last time I couldn't find it. It's not 100% of the process, but it might give you a good visual of what is happening:
