Aftermarket side covers

I was looking at the aftermarket side covers on ebay. How do they mount? Looks like the breather side snaps on my breather like the metal one already on the bike. The big question is the battery side. What holds it in place. It shows a little bolt tab my bike has that tab on the breather side but noy on the battery side. The 09 i looked at the other day had the bolt tab on both sides. Help please i would like to get a set if they would fit my 85 250. Thanks for all you help.

The plastic side covers are for second generation (1996 and up) 250s. they won't fit your 85.

I'm keepin' all the left over parts. I'm gonna use 'em to build another bike!

Will the tank and fender kits off eBay fit my 85? I know the side covers won't.

Thanks wjmrty. I can get the set off eBay cheaper than I can have my tank fixed and fenders painted. Bigger tank too.

just got tank and fenders in today from e-bay, good looking items. probably be the week-end before I get them mounted. so my question is, should I think about lining this new tank before use? and so the redrebelrider crosses over to the dark side, pulling the red tins and going to black.

Depends. It's easier to line the tank when free of gas, but if it doesn't leak, there's no need to line it. Problem is, you don't know if or when it will start leaking! Part of the joy of buying Chinese stuff.

If you line it, would recommend Caswell epoxy over any other liner.
