15t AND 30T sprockets

A while back I installed a 30T rear sprocket with great results. So I decided to also add a 15T front sprocket to see what happens. So far so good. Once I get it out on the highway I expect that my normal 65 MPH will be with even lower RPMs.

Thats very high gearing. Just be careful you are not lugging the engine (running it too slow) which can cause more damage than running it too fast. Jerry.

Thanks for the advice. I'll make sure to beware of lugging. But so far so good. It probably helps that I'm only 165lbs. I'll let you know how it is on the highway when I ride it to Atlantic City next weekend.

I would be interested in the results also. I already have the 30t it's o.k. butI'm only 140 lbs so bogging shouldn't be an issue.

Well my average MPG has gone from about 70 to about 77 with my newest sprocket. However, I have found that the only time that 5th gear is valuable useful now, though, is on the highway or in long stretches of road. It's really not useful anymore on hills. The high RPM does seem to be noticeably lower, though, which I really like.

Well I'm i Florida, and hills are not an issue. Although I have never taken it on the freeway I wondered if it would be a good option for around here at 45-55 MPH. I took it out one time at 65-70 and it did it, but it seemed like the front end was floating. Not real comfortable.

You can run one or the other but shouldn't try both. It works the engine way too hard and makes 5th gear all but useless.
My fav is the 15F/33R.

bB2NER, I think you may be right for a bigger person. But I'm 160 lbs and I don't notice the engine being strained at all in 5th gear in the context that I mentioned (highways, flat straightaways, etc). 4th gear is now perfect at 45-55mph.

Well I rode 52 miles on the AC expressway this weekend where the speed limit is 65. The new sprocket really is a good fit for this high speed application (still winds out a bit at 75-80mph, but I think that is just how the Rebel is designed.
