If you think the carb got gummed up from sitting you could just drain the fuel from the carb and fill it up with straight seafoam and let it sit for a few days. Then drain the seafoam and run a tank of fuel treated with seafoam. Should make it run like new again.

Thanks for the responses all!

I'll start with the air filter and petcock and if that doesn't work I guess I'll drain the carb and soak it overnight in some seafoam, drain that, then see where that leaves me, and hopefully report back with good news.

Hello, My rebel also dies unless the choke is at least halfway, I have read this thread and the other one with a similar name and the OP never posts back with how the seafoam works.

I will be doing the seafoam carb cleaning thing tommorow and will post back results within the next few days.

Hopefully it will take care of your issue. When your mpgs are in the 70-75 range with the choke fully off after about 5 minutes of riding you'll know the carb is fully clean
It's too bad people let rebels sit for extended periods without turning one single screw first.
