new to rebel forum!!
hello my name is Andrew i am located in michigan and i just bought a 1985 honda rebel it was bone stock when i got it with only 4k miles on it..bought her for 300 bucks...nothing wrong with it besides it dident fit my 6'2" stature perfectly so i modded ...and came up with what is now a new bar hopping ricer ...i am a sucker for these little bikes...i own and operate a small motorcycle shop that specializes in bobbers and restoration...most cycles come to me in poor condition and i make them into road ready bikes..also i occasionally get the stock bikes such as the cb750s and the owner wants it more sporty so i hardtail it and install custom exhaust and custom paint and pin stripe...murals on tanks even..and fork it out...i am a "side by side" customize i have the people work with me when i do this stuff...so i know its what they want...cause if it were me id just old school em all...

Welcome aboard!
So, where abouts in the Mitten are you?
I'd like to know about a friendly local bike shop.

Welcome. The Rebel didn't fit me either, I am 6' 200, and the pegs were just too far back. I moved them 4" forward, and everything fit just fine. I'm also in the process of customizing my '04 Rebel, but not into a bobber. I need it to remain a functional practical motorcycle.
There is a guy here who does what you do. He runs a business called Chop Suey Cycles, and builds choppers/bobbers. He has some for sale, and will also modify a customers bike the way they want it. Jerry.

I like the unpainted look, if only it didn't rust. BTW, unless I missed something, that rear suspension setup looks like a disaster waiting to happen, if the shocks are the only thing holding it up. At that angle, the stress on the shocks and swingarm is going to be extreme, and something is likely to break. Jerry.

I have taken that into consideration....the bike is so light theirs not even near enough weight to break the shocks..they still fluctuate to retain the softail aspect of it...my old honda cb750 streetfighter had drop mounts like this and the bike has seen some nasty potholes and not even one problem..took it across the US to Texas and back its a tested fabrication that holds up perfectly..and for the unpainted tank and fender there clear coated after i sanded them with a sanding wheel on a grinder really fine grit also...but i like it painted makes it look more clean..

The metallic look is pretty cool! The seat is intresting, was it the pillion seat turned main seat or did you make it?
