The bike's in pretty good shape. This guy I bought it from is into dual sports and was given the bike about ten years ago, never did anything with it and just wanted it out of his garage. It's been repainted at some point and is showing its age but it's not beat up. The major issue is that the previous owner lost the key, tried to hotwire it and fried the coil. Other than that the front brake caliper and the speedo have been cannabilized for someone's project, but as far as i know that's it. I don't really have any interest in keeping everything stock just as long as it works; in other words I'm not going to try to track down an actual rebel 450 speedo etc. I noticed the premium prices on ebay for 450 parts so I figured when I'm done with the bobber build I'll sell the fender, stock seat, tail light etc. and try to recoup some of the bobber parts cost. So far the rear fender looks like about 40 bucks, fabricate a strut, solo seat about 30 bucks, drag bar 20, new stubby flashers about 20 as well. Hopefully I won't run into any major mechanical issues.
Jax, I'm about 400 miles and change north of you, roughly 60 miles south of Eureka.
