hi im ricky and i got a 85 rebel

its a great bike except im kinda too tall for it im looking for some forward controls mods but otherwise i love it, it get better gas milage than some mopeds and its twice as fast and looks twice as cool but im having trouble retiming it after i replace all the gaskets in the top end any help would be grea thanks

Welcome aboard!
Are you looking for valve timing? Check out ZepRider's valve adjust video and you might be able to deduce from it where the crank and cam need to be in relation to eachother.

well i had to take the timing chain off the cam gear and i wanted to know what positions the pistons need to be in and where the cam needs to be

Welcome to the forum. Clymer and Honda make service manuals for our bikes. Your local library may have one and they also show up on ebay and elsewhere. Very handy when you are wrenching on the bike.

Welcome Ricky9688, You should be able to find whatever info you're looking for on here. I recently got an '85 250, and this forum has been an invaluable tool for me. Lots of good people with good info to share.

Question Camshaft Timing

Greetings Ricky9688,

Sequence for Cam Removal and Installation.

Cam Removal.
Rotate engine counter clockwise till "T" mark is at pointer and cam gear marks are level with top of cylinderhead.
Remove Cam gear bolt.
Rotate engine counter clockwise 360 degrees till "T" mark is at pointer.
Remove Cam bolt.

Cam Install.
Rotate engine 360 degrees till "T" mark is at pointer.
Install Cam gear with line up marks level with top of cylinderhead.
Install Cam bolt.
Rotate engine counter clockwise 360 degrees, till "T" mark is at pointer.
Install cam bolt.
