Hi and Thanks!

Hi everyone,

My name is Jim. I live in Connecticut and I'm 53 years old. And I am the proud owner of a new 2009 Rebel CMX250C, my first bike, which I bought about a month ago. Whoo hoo!

I took the BRC and got my M endorsement on my license and have been having a great time learning how to really ride. Which is why I got the Rebel. It's so easy to ride and learn on.

A ton of thanks go out to all of you who contribute your knowledge, opinions and advice. I've been lurking for the past few weeks and have poured over certain threads here over and over. In fact, I'll be asking your advice soon, but that will be in another thread.

It's nice to be here!

Jim

Welcome Jim and congratulations on your new bike and getting your endorsement. Stay alert and beware of distracted cagers.

Welcome to a great forum. If it involves Rebels, you'll find it here. Good to here you took the riders course and got your endorsement. But like everybody said, be careful!!!! It is a lot more dangerous out there on the road than it used to be. I'm 51, and started riding on the street at 16. After 35 years and 400,000 miles of street riding I'm probably in more danger on the street now than I was when I first started. There is a lot more traffic (depending on where you live), cage drivers are a lot dumber, and then there are cell phones. That alone makes things at least 10 times worse. Used to you had to watch out for bad drivers. Now you have to watch out for cell phone users who are not driving at all. Jerry.

Welcome Jim!
The Rebel is a great bike, all the way around. Doing the MSF course is a big plus.
Like Jerry said, there are new dangers out there nowadays.
My story is similar to Jerry's except I didn't do MX, just fun trail stuff with friends I;ve only got about 250,000 street miles on two wheel due to taking six years off during the 90's
There's nothing like a new Rebel. When I bought mine new I was already determined that I was going to keep it until one of us no longer functioned and couldn't be repaired.
