Might consider using hairpin springs as an option. I use them on my bikes and like them over coiled springs.

Apology accepted. I suppose if you're unable to express yourself creatively in writing, then do so with your bike!

I've never been one to discourage that end. I really am here to help...you believe that, don'tcha Danny? That I'm here to help? (classic Nicholson line --- Col. Nathan Jessup, "A Few Good Men"). I've picked up a lot over the past decade+ and have no qualms giving it back.

I started a little later in life, with absolutely zero mechanical inclination. By my second year of riding I had the chopper bug big time, having ridden a friend's old ironhead Sportster chopper. My first foray was a chopper kit, albeit with tons of research before committing to it. I got onto the internet a couple years after that bike was done, and learned a whole lot more (along with the acquisition of a clunker bike...you know, it's impossible to screw something up any more than it already is, makes it a lot easier to bang a few wrenches on that way).

I haven't gotten the bravado to crack open an engine yet, let alone a carburetor...but my second custom bike was all self-done, not even a year after the first one was on the road. I've done this a few times now, and read a lot into each one. I try to find something I like in any custom bike, and look into the pros and cons of each one. If I see something that appears to not jive well in terms of safety and sanity, I'll let the guy know about it...much as many a forum writer did for me years ago. Never stop riding, never stop learning...that's my motto. Beginner biker for 12+ years and still learning more every day.

Again, I dig the bike. Keep the shiny side up!

Those are cool but I think I like the springs better. Thank you for the option though.

Not sure about a masterpiece but thanks. Just trying to keep it cheap. I made some struts today and mounted the rear fender and made fender struts.

There is a place here locally that sells lots of hard to find hardware items, like specialty springs. Next time I'm in there, I'll see if they have the ones I have in mind. They are similar to the ones on early motorcycle seats. Coil springs, but tapered. Sort of a truncated football shape. I'm sure there's a name for that, but I don't know what it is.

Hey guys. Been a little busy. Enjoy.

Had my buddy make a little battery box since I can't weld yet.

Of course I had to customize it.

Went ahead and made my own struts since the Andrew guys never got back to me. Think mine look better anyway. =)

Made some little fender struts too.

Went ahead and got a jump start and started powdercoating my parts.

Chopped the pipes and wrapped them

Cut and grind on the frame a little.

Sandblasted and primed.
