It has nothing to do with writing long posts or being articulate.

It has everything to do with casting false accusations sprung from you ignoring the pertinent information. You post a pic of a front-lowered bike and claim no mods to the rear, and a discussion breaks out on that premise. You had the chance to say you were considering/had already performed a rear mod, but instead drop the "if I was concerned about safety" bomb and cry "threadjack". You let it go for so long and finally, for whatever reason, divulge that there is a mod to the rear...and continue with the threadjack tirade.

I ended the whole debate back when it appeared safety wasn't a concern. It would have ended even sooner had you simply answered the question instead of crying threadjack. You had every opportunity to dispel the "premature goings off" yet you chose a display of ignorance instead and allowed it to continue.

In fact, you're STILL ignoring that point. Epic fail.

Ok grumpy like said in the beginning it was just for a look and still wasn't sure where I was heading with it. Sorry I didn't go into detail about every little part that I wasn't sure about. No biggy bro. You guys have a good one and good luck.

Ok, I'm going to make one more post to this thread, them I'm done, unless I see something here worth posting about.

I don't know how old you are, or how much riding experience you have, but you have made it pretty clear this is going to be your first seriously modified bike. I'm not completely defending all the posts made on this thread, including my own. But it is pretty obvious to me that everyone, including myself, had/has the right intentions. We are trying to help you. A long time ago, I was also new to bikes. In fact, about the only things I knew about bikes is what they looked like, that I liked them, and that I wanted to ride one. Knowing I was a total beginner, I sought out all the help and advice I could get. I bought my first bike as a pile of junk, and myself and the farm mechanic where I lived rebuilt it, and got it going. He had ridden a long time ago, and did his best to teach me how to ride it.

Yes, I crashed several times, but was going very slow, and was nowhere near any traffic. Because I knew I had very little idea what I was doing. The internet was not available way back then, we didn't live anywhere near a town of any size, but I still managed to get my hands on several motorcycle magazines, and a couple of books about motorcycling. I studied all this stuff intensely, learning all I could. Between the books and magazines, and a lot of riding through cotton fields, I slowly began to get the hang of it, and started crashing less and less, and begin to learn the proper way to ride. I was 8 years old when I first got this bike.

Over the next 2-3 years, I learned a lot about riding, still pretty much out of harms way in fields and farm roads, and learned how to work on motorcycles, out of necessity, because it was always breaking down. This is where my riding education and my mechanical education both began.

That was a long time, a lot of miles, and a lot of motorcycles ago. I have been riding and working on motorcycles ever since, I have been a professional mechanic for 32 years now. But I am still learning. As things get more and more complicated, my employer keeps sending me back to classes to learn about the new stuff, and how to fix it. I am also still learning about riding, working on, and modifying motorcycles. I never miss the chance to learn something. I never had/have the attitude that I know it all. I know a lot, but am far from knowing it all. I never will.

When it comes to riding, attitude plays a major part. The "I know it all", or "riding is dangerous anyway, so why should I care" attitude will get you killed, or worse, very quickly. I do care, or I wouldn't have taken the time and effort to write all this.

It's up to you whether you want to read this, and give it some serious thought, or continue on with you present attitude. Either way, as a fellow rider, I wish you the best of luck. Jerry.

I missed the part about the seat. Did you fab that from scratch? What kind of springs did you use on it?

No sir I picked it up off ebay. No springs yet it was just resting on the frame in the picture. Probably go with some 3 or 4 inch triumph springs.

Doesn't look like a Rebel anymore that's for sure. I'm looking forward to see the final pics.
