Relocated helmet lock

For those that don't frequent the other board.

Today was a bust for riding. With the Tall Ships and rain we decided to just stay home. Great day to spend in my shop.

First thing I did was change the fork oil, chain and sprockets on the KZ. Tomorrow I go back into the carbs and get the new rear tire mounted.

During a break, I started thinking about the helmet lock on the Rebel. It is such a pain I never used it. I have been looking for a place to relocate it to. Today I found it.

I used the sissy bar mount. The lock is easy to reach and out of the way. The helmet does not hang near the muffler.

I used one of the pillion bolts to secure it, with lock tight of course. With a little thought Miss Dottie now has a usable helmet lock.

I went to a store to buy some insecticide. "Is this good for beetles?" I asked the clerk. "No," he replied. "It'll kill 'em."

This is GREAT! Many think that the factory design for ALL bikes is the ultimate way & can't be improved upon (as if only the factory can do it the "right" way)

Honda provided a helmet lock that many don't find practical. You re-located it to a different location & made it work just fine! O.K., I realize that the sissy bar isn't factory stock, etc., but the point I'm trying to make is that the factory theoretically could have located it in a more practical area to begin with.

Great job, Dan!

Thanks.

If we had not installed the sissy bar the helmet lock was going on the fender. It is just too low to be useful in the stock location.

I have never owned a vehicle that remained factory stock. A little personal touch mekes it mine.
