My CB Bobber
Hi,
Name is Henry and I am in Roanke, Va. Been reading this forum for a while now and finally joined up and am posting some pics of my 74 Cb450 that I am building from more or less, scratch. I realize this is a Rebel site, but hey, my CB's kin....
Anyways, bought this CB for 100 bucks and promptly cut it in half! Heres what I started with and where its at now.
Let me know what ya think of it!
Henry

Thanks for the compliment on my build, its appreciated!
The springs are 3 inches tall. I put them on for looks for the most part as my front seat mount is not hinged and the mount is 2 inch wide 3/16 steel bar. So, theres not much give there. Bike wasnt built for comfort, more for looks. People I've talked to say that they give you a decent ride, but the bike is a rigid so take that into account. Built for round town and bar hoppin, not for cruising 100 miles up the road. Like I said, mostly for looks. If your looking for comfort, rear swingarm and a set of shocks.
My two cents..
Henry

I can imagine. I've got quite a few in my bobber project so far, and it's not near as clean as yours.

yeah mine is only good for bar hoppin too, no shocks either after extending the swing arm i just made drop bars to replace the shocks and slammed it. as of my seat its just a piece of aluminum. thats why i was thinking of those hairpin springs, looks good. thanks for the info.

Well, I think that these springs look cool as hell compared to the regular wound springs that everyone has. The wound springs supposedly give a cushier ride, but coolness won out on my bike.....If you want a little cushion though, hinge the front seat mount and then use wich ever you decide on.
picking up my two cents now.....

I thought about going with a springer seat on my bobber at first, but changed my mind when I thought about ride quality. Right now the Rebel is going to be my primary ride. In about 10 months i'll be getting something bigger. Then I plan to start all over and do some interesting stuff. I'm playing around with the idea of an air ride suspension, and maybe an air ride seat. If, I can make it fit. I may even look into going with a single sided swing arm. That should make for a unique looking bobber.

No doubt on the single sided looking unique. Im thinking of trading my old Porsche for a GS750 right now, that would be my next build. We'll see if the guy comes thru on it.
