Looking for advice with solo spring seat

Hey guys,
I am going to be doing some mods over the winter to my 06 Red and I am wondering if I can make this seat work with not the stock fender?
Leather Solo Seat+3" Mount Bracket Spring For Harley Sportster Chopper Bobber | eBay

I plan on either chopping the stock fender or either getting a 5 1/2 blank fender and modding it like the one in the photo.
Please tell me what you guys think..

If you have the tools, and know how to use them then yes, if not you're going to need a buddy that has the tools, and a credit card for pizza and beer. I have a Le pera solo seat mounted to my bike, but it is very similar to the one you are looking at, with a rear fender that I fabbed from a large bike front fender.

Hey there,
thanks for the reply,
I have the tools and can do a little cutting and welding, so hopefully I can fab it out. I am really digging yours. I like where you have your handlebar bag mounted. What fender did you use? Where do you have your seat springs mounted in?
I am waiting until full blown winter to start, it is still in the 60's here in SC, but this is the last weekend of riding. I am going to start ordering parts now. I am wondering about cutting the original fender and using it with the spring solo seat along with new turn signals and brake light and plate mount. I am trying to be frugal. A little short on funds. So and help you guys can give or advice, I will take..
Thanks again

when I mounted my seat to the gas tank bolt on the front of the seat, I marked where the springs sat on the frame, and that is where I welded the studs that the springs sit on/in. I also just used the studs, rather than bolting the springs to the frame, so that access to the electric box was easy, just pull the two spring clips off the studs and the seat pivots up.
I bought a front fender from a swap meet, so I don't know what bike it came from, but I've read where a shadow 650 front fender works great for a rebel rear fender with very little fab work needed, PM shadowshack for details, I'm thinking he is the one that posted something about that awhile back.
