All I have to say here, is carry your cell phone in your pocket, saddlebag, wherever, out of sight, and turned off. That's what I do. Cell phones and riding do not mix any better than alcohol and riding. Jerry.

I have absolutely no sympathy for anybody who crashes riding with a cell phone turned on. They flat out asked for it. What's next, playing video games while riding? Both riding and driving apparently already take more skill than most people have (judging by local traffic), toss a cell phone into the mix, and you've got a guaranteed accident, just waiting to happen. You probably won't have to wait long. Jerry.

I've got a great design for a cell phone holder........it clips onto the side of your computer, at your desk, at your office, while you go out and ride your Rebel.
I'm with Junkyard on this one........leave the stupid thing home and enjoy yourself........what in the world is so friggin important that everybody has to always be talking on the cell phone? Cell phone is nothing more than an electronic leash so the wife or the boss can keep you tied up....
Sure I have a cell phone, but I use it for MY convenience.......mostly for outgoing calls....Whenever I am doing anything that requires my full attention, like driving, riding a motorcyle, flying, working on something that is detailed.....I leave the damn phone somewhere else!!!!
I think I'd rather deal with a drunk driver on the road than somebody talking on the phone....really........I can spot those cell phone talkers a mile away, because their driving is so erratic!

The mod has never being intended for speaking on the cell phone while riding, I think we are over reacting here a little bit...I hate cell phone talkers also... Due to my job I needed at the time to be on call 24 hrs a day...Having it in front of me, instead of on the belt or pocket, will allow me to see if somebody is calling, if the call is FEDERAL GOVERNMENT related and needed to be answer immediately!...then I can park safely somewhere and return the call...
Admiral just go to a bike store...you'll find it.

I am on call nights and weekends once in a while, but not that much. I am required to respond within 30 minutes. This is a city government. If I am on call, I just don't ride, if I am driving (not allowed to leave town) I carry the phone, but if it rings, I don't even look at it. I find a place where I can safely pull over and stop, then check the phone.
I have been complaining about people using cell phones while making some minuscule effort to drive at the same time for a long time, and I am not about to become one of them. I have emailed every politician in my state to complain about it, all to no avail.
I do carry a cell phone while riding, but as I said, it is always turned off. I carry it so I can call for help in an emergency. Cell phones are a great invention when used properly. They are one of our worst nightmares when they are not. I have seen many riders using a cell phone while riding, you can even get helmets with those bluetooth things built in. I'm sure this alone has caused many riders to start wearing helmets. Safety couldn't do it, laws couldn't do it, but the almighty cell phone could.
If it sounds like I am on a crusade here, well I sort of am. But what is wrong with that? What about MADD? Does anybody here support drunk driving or riding? DUI laws are vigorously enforced in my state, yet there are no laws to prevent people from using their cell phones, even texting while driving. I personally see no difference. After many years of cell phone use while driving, it has pretty much been proven that it is as dangerous as drunk driving, yet nothing is being done about it. My employer has a strict policy against using a cell phone, yours or theirs, while driving their vehicles. Doing so is cause for immediate termination. You get 3 chances before being terminated for not wearing seatbelts while driving a city vehicle, but there is absolutely no leeway on the cell phone issue. Jerry.

I have to side with the "keep it in your pocket" end. Every cell phone (even my ancient model that has no camera or text or internet features --- it only makes phone calls) has this nifty feature called "caller ID". It also has a vibrate feature to let me know if it's ringing.
Those two nifty high tech features permit me to stop riding or driving at my conveniece to assess just how important the call is.

have to give the nod to JunkyardDog on this one. Wish My state would ban cellphone use
for the operator of a motor vehicle.
